1. Stehen die hier beschriebenen 300 SL-Modelle zum Verkauf?

Nein, dies ist keine kommerzielle Seite und ich bin kein Händler. Ich kann aber evtl. Tipps geben, falls jemand ein bestimmtes Modell sucht. Außerdem stehen hier ein paar doppelte Modelle für Tauschzwecke herum.

2. Ich habe da ein 300 SL-Modell, welches ich nicht zuordnen kann. Können Sie mir helfen und wissen Sie, ob es wertvoll ist?

Ich bin gerne bereit, bei der Identifikation von 300 SL-Modellautos zu helfen. Dazu brauche ich eine ausführliche Beschreibung, besser aber ein Foto. Sie können mir das gerne zuschicken, digital als Mail-Attachment oder auch per konventioneller Post (falls die Rückgabe erwünscht ist, bitte einen frankierten und adressierten Rückumschlag beifügen), meine Postanschrift finden Sie auf dieser Seite. Falls Sie mehrere Bilder per Mail schicken möchten, bitte ich um vorherige Kontaktaufnahme, da ich ungern unvorbereitet größere Attachments downloaden möchte. Ich bin auch gerne zu einer unverbindlichen und kostenlosen Werteinschätzung bereit, sofern es dafür ausreichende Grundlagen gibt.

3. Ich möchte ein Modellauto loswerden. Kaufen Sie 300 SL-Modelle?

Ja, eventuell - das kommt auf das Modell und den Preis an. Allerdings ist es meist zwecklos, mir aktuelle Modelle aus den letzten 10 Jahren anzubieten, die international in gleichen Varianten vertrieben oder in Deutschland vermarktet wurden, z.B. von Bburago. Ich bin grundsätzlich interessiert an deutlich älteren 300 SL-Modellen, auch z.B. sehr einfachen Plastikmodellen ("Margarineautos" o.ä.) sowie an Bausätzen, Slotcars, Pins etc. Falls sich jemand häufiger im Ausland aufhält, könnte es da auch aktuelle Modellvarianten geben, die auf den deutschen Markt nicht erhältlich sind, wie bestimmte Modelle von Hongwell ("Cararama") und HighSpeed/Malibu-International - auch daran bin ich interessiert. Fragen jedenfalls kostet nix!

4. Sind Sie auch an anderen Modellautos interessiert oder können Sie dazu Informationen geben?

In der Regel nicht, da bin ich ein völliger Fachidiot. Ich beschäftige mich ausschließlich mit dem Mercedes-Benz 300 SL mit den Werksbezeichnungen W 194 (300 SL Rennsportwagen 1952, "Prototyp" oder "Ur-SL"), W 198 (300 SL Coupé "Flügeltürer" 1954), W 198 II (300 SL Roadster 1957), 300 SLS (auf dem Roadster basierender Rennsportwagen von 1957) sowie am Rande mit den legendären Renntransporter, der Teile des 300 SL enthält. Nicht interessiert bin ich am 300 SLR "Uhlenhaut"-Coupé, 300 SLR Stromlinie (W 196 bzw. darauf basierend), dem "kleinen Bruder" 190 SL, dem Nachfolger 230 SL oder etwa den moderneren 300 SL-Versionen der Baureihen aus den 80er/90er Jahren.

No, this is a non-commercial site and I'm not a model car dealer. But maybe I can give you a hint if you are searching for a certain 300 SL scale model. I too have some doubles to swap.

I'm always glad to help with the identification of 300 SL scale models. Therefore I need a detailed description, better a picture. You may send this to me as a digital mail attachment or a print via snail mail (Germany: If you want to get a print returned please enclose an addressed and prepaid envelope), you'll find my address on this page. If you want to send more than one picture as a mail attachment please contact me first. I don't like to download big mail attachments without knowing what it is.
If possible I'll try to judge the value of your 300 SL model car (at no cost).

3. I want to sell a 300 SL scale model. Would you buy it?

Maybe, depends on the model car and your price offer. It's mostly useless to offer scale models from the last ten years which have been distributed internationally, such as Bburago, or model cars which were produced in Germany, such as Wiking. But if you have special models which are or were not available in Germany I might be interested. For example there were some Hongwell ("Cararama" series) and HighSpeed/Malibu International cars which were not available on the German market. If you have antique 300 SL model cars, even cheap plastic toy versions as well as kits, slot cars, pins, don't hesitate to make an offer.

4. Are you interested in or do you have information about other model cars?

Not really, I'm sort of a specialised idiot. I'm only interested in the following Mercedes-Benz 300 SL types: W 194 (300 SL race car from 1952, "prototype"), W 198 (300 SL Coupé "Gullwing" from 1954), W 198 II (300 SL Roadster from 1957), 300 SLS (race car based on the 300 SL roadster) and the legendary Mercedes race transporter which was built with some 300 SL parts. I'm not interested in the 300 SLR "Uhlenhaut" coupé, the 300 SLR "streamline" (both W 196 or based on the W 196), the "little brother" 190 SL, the successor 230 SL or the modern type 300 SL cars of the later series.
